C thought there would be a hundred barking dogs, hissing cats, and one seed and poop flinging parrot in the sanctuary. But only their three dogs and one bird were misbehaving. “We should have brought the dustpan and broom,” said C.

His name was Izod, and his tank-mate’s name was Darth Gator. They were purchased from a pet shop that was going out of business. When caring for two alligators became too much of a chore, they were released in the river. It was a common tale.
